Beyond central Saigon
Explore
eastern Saigon.
Locals still often say District 2 and District 9, although both are now part of Thu Duc City. Wider roads, river views and neighbourhood lanes make this side of the city rewarding on two wheels.

Three worthwhile stops
- Thu Thiem riverfront & Sala: arrive near sunset for open river views and a striking outlook towards the District 1 skyline.
- Thao Dien: follow quieter lanes for cafés, design shops, riverside corners and a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere.
- Buu Long Pagoda: make a longer ride into the former District 9 for ornate architecture and a greener setting. Confirm your battery range and leave before rush hour.
What and where to eat
- Mặn Mòi, An Khanh: regional Vietnamese dishes in a garden setting. Restaurant details ↗
- Hum Garden, An Khanh: thoughtful Vietnamese plant-based food in a peaceful house and garden. Restaurant details ↗
- Thu Duc local food stop: look for busy neighbourhood stalls serving cơm tấm, bánh canh or bánh xèo at local prices.
Opening hours, menu prices and listings can change. Check directly before making a special trip, carry light rain protection and avoid riding if weather or traffic feels unsafe.
